The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden #1)

And I'm back! Now, my pretties, feast your eyes upon this!

The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa! Awesome cover, no? I love how it's all dark and creepy. That blood tear is a really nice touch. Summary of the book is as follows:

You will kill. The only question is when.

In the dark days since the insidious Red Lung virus decimated the human population, vampires have risen to rule the crumbling cities and suburbs. Uncontested Princes hold sway over diminished ranks of humans: their "pets." In exchange for their labor, loyalty and of course, their blood, these pets are registered, given food and shelter, permitted to survive.

Unregistered humans cling to fringes, scavenging for survival. Allison Sekemoto and her fellow Unregistereds are hunted, not only by vampires, but by rabids, the unholy result of Red Lung-infected vampires feeding on unwary humans. One night, Allie is attacked by a pack of rabids, saved by an unlikely hero...and turned vampire.

Uncomfortable in her undead skin, Allie falls in with a ragtag crew of humans seeking a cure, or cures: for Rabidism and for Vampirism. She's passing for human...for now. But the hunger is growing and will not be denied. Not for friendship—not even for love.

I don't really like vampire books anymore, because of Twilight. It wasn't bad, but it just changed my view on vampires. But I love Julie Kagawa, and I trust her. Her Iron Fey series rocked, and I am totally looking forward to this book, vampires and all. Comes out May 2012!

Love always,

When Your Reach Me

                                      Book Jacket Summary
By sixth grade, Miranda and her best friend, Sal, know how to navigate their New York City neighborhood. They know where it's safe to go, like the local grocery store, and they know whom to avoid, like the crazy guy on the corner. But things start to unravel. Sal gets punched by a new kid for what seems like no reason, and he shuts Miranda out of his life. The apartment key that Miranda's mom keeps hidden for emergencies is stolen. And then Miranda finds a mysterious note scrawled on a tiny slip of paper: I am coming to save your friend’s life, and my own.
I must ask two favors. First, you must write me a letter.

The notes keep coming, and Miranda slowly realizes that whoever is leaving them knows all about her, including things that have not even happened yet. Each message brings her closer to believing that only she can prevent a tragic death. Until
the final note makes her think she's too late.

My Thoughts
I ah-dore everything about this book! Talk about time-travel has never failed to interest me before, and this book was no different. I loved Marcus, with all his mysteriousness and everything. Miranda did get on my nerves once in a while, but it was never too bad. This book isn't a must-read, but defintely try it out!

Hi!

Hi I'm Optimistic4ever. I love reading and writing so I decided to start a book blog that will be updated I don't know how often. I know most bloggers are teens, but I'll be reviewing a LOT of children's books for you 11 and 12 year olds out there. If any of you happen to find my blog, that is. Did that make sense? Because I don't think it did. Anyways, I'll check in with you later!
